Beginning in September, students should be supported in transitioning to their next grade or course, acknowledging the prolonged absence of students from the classroom. Part of this support should include assessments to identify students’ strengths and gaps in learning at key instructional times to ensure students have fundamental building blocks in advance of new content. The primary purpose of instruction and assessment is to raise the skill level of all learners in their achievement of overall curriculum expectations across all subjects, courses, and grades.
Extra support and review is recommended for Math, English and Science for all grades specially, junior level.
Health and Physical Education:
Board has referred to Physical & Health Education (PHE) Canada’s resource or the Ontario Physical and Health Education Association (Ophea) website for suggestions on teaching physical education on line with current public health recommendations.
The online health and physical education classes are on providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to make healthy choices today and lead healthy active lives in the future.
Through participation in a wide range of physical activities, they develop knowledge and skills related to movement competence and personal fitness that provide a foundation for active living. They also acquire an understanding of the factors and skills that contribute to healthy development and learn how their own choices and behaviors, as well as various factors in the world around them, affect their own and others’ health and well-being.
Through our online classes, students build a stronger sense of themselves, learn to interact positively with others in a digital environment and in their community, and develop their ability to think critically and creatively.
